Purpose of the Blog

The terminology of Music Theory is colorful and exotic. While, in actuality, the terms refer to musical concepts, they can, quite convincingly, be twisted to hold other meanings and to comedic effect. One example, and also the blog's namesake, is the term, the "dotted breve," which denotes a note or rest that has a value of 12 beats. The term, as noticed quite astutely by a certain music theory teacher (who will "knot" be named here) could easily be the name of a hip coffee shop in an urban setting, or a high-brow blog of musical musings.
The purpose of The Dotted Breve is to provide a platform for music theorists to discuss possible alternate meanings for musical terms and for me to show the world what a true musician is like.
